Dunna Nunciatura is a 23-storey mixed-use residential tower in San José, Costa Rica that sets a new benchmark for high-rise construction in the Americas.
Marking a major regional milestone, the project is the first elevated SigmaSlab® application in the Americas, and the first in the region to be executed within a high seismic zone. Developed in collaboration with Bekaert Sustainable Construction, SigmaSlab® combines CCL’s XF/XU post-tensioning systems with Dramix® steel fibre reinforcement to create a high-performance hybrid slab solution.
Across more than 20,000m² of elevated slabs, the system delivered thinner floor plates, longer spans, reduced traditional reinforcement, and faster construction cycles. The optimised design enhanced crack control and durability while reducing overall structural weight and embodied carbon through material efficiency.
Close coordination with the project team — including the developer, architect, structural engineers, and main contractor — ensured the successful integration of the system at scale. The final SigmaSlab® pour marked the completion of a significant achievement, including a record-breaking 59-metre pump of fibre-reinforced concrete, demonstrating the capability of advanced materials and technical expertise working in alignment.
Dunna Nunciatura showcases how SigmaSlab® can transform high-rise construction by improving efficiency, performance, and sustainability.
