MOSQUE, DOHA, QATAR

When existing reinforcement laps could not accomodate load transfer at a mosque in Doha, CCL was asked to provide a strengthening solution.

The Al Gharrafa mosque is a two-storey structure (ground and first floor). The original beams had been designed to provide frame support for top and bottom members and were connected by tension columns at the first floor.

The laps of the rebar within the beams were unable to provide sufficient load transfer. At which point CCL was engaged to provide a solution which would ensure the correct load transfer for the columns to support the structural members.

The company’s design used carbon fibre wraps, which were installed with appropriate overlaps to the existing top and bottom members.
