The £2bn Olympic Athletes’ Village development was built to accommodate athletes and officials during the 2012 Olympic Games.
This prestigious development included 11 residential blocks, each comprising between five and seven buildings. In addition to this accommodation, the site included retail outlets, restaurants, and medical centres and leisure facilities.
Following the Games, the Athletes’ Village formed part of the Stratford City regeneration scheme, enabling local people to benefit from the development of 3,000 new homes for sale and rent.
Knight Build was commissioned by Lendlease to construct the concrete frames for plot N15. CCL was engaged by Knight Build to take over and complete the post-tensioning package.
CCL was awarded the project because of its operational experience, technical knowledge, competitive price and pragmatic approach, along with its CARES status.
CCL supplied and installed its XF flat-slab bonded post-tensioning system. The CCL solution achieved a flat soffit within the tight floor-to-floor heights, whilst maintaining a minimal floor thickness. The use of CCL post-tensioned slabs successfully accomplished the development objective by preserving the desired minimal slab depth throughout this seven-tower project.
