Nottingham is one of six nominated science cities in the UK and a £6.5m Energy Technologies and Research building has been built at the city’s University, which has been billed as the first of its kind in the country.
Funding for the project has come from the University, the European Regional Development Fund and SABMiller. Quoted on the University’s website, Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Greenaway said: “This new centre…will enable the University to bring together many of the world’s leading experts in this field and help us tackle some of the major challenges of harnessing power from sustainable sources.”
CCL provided the design of the post-tensioned slabs and carried out the installation of its XF10 and XF20 systems.
In total, 14 tonnes of strand and 300 anchorages were supplied to the project over a two-month period.
The design included fair-faced soffits and post-tensioned transfer beams.
