CCL completes the post-tensioning on an energy-efficient retirement home

CCL has completed the post-tensioning on a new retirement home (Établissement d’hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes – EHPAD) in France. Located in the new Rodez eco-district of Combarel, the building will provide accommodation and living space for dependant elderly people.

The split-level design of the building comprises four storeys from street level and three storeys from forecourt level. CCL provided the post-tensioned design, supplied its XF flat slab system, and installed the post-tensioned tendons for the transfer slab on the upper ground floor. The use of post-tensioning on the project reduced the volume of concrete by approximately 27% and reduced construction time by approximately 30%.

Once completed the energy-efficient building will contain 87 bedrooms and include a significant number of green spaces in line with the Combarel eco construction development ethos. CCL was pleased to work alongside frame contractor Lagarrigue on the project.

Combarel EPHAD is expected to open in the summer of 2019.
