CCL wins post-tensioning award
CCL was recently awarded the 2011 Post-Tensioned Structure Award by the Post-Tensioning Association, for its work on the Worcester Library and History Centre.
The presentation was made at the Concrete Society Awards, held in London on 10 November 2011, an annual event to recognise excellence in the concrete construction industry.
CCL installed its XF10 and XF20 Systems at the Worcester Library and History Centre, also known as the Hive, to reduce and rationalise the depths of the original reinforced concrete floors from between 300mm and 500mm, to 250mm.
The use of post-tensioning on the project saved more than 250m3 of concrete across three levels, reducing embodied CO2 by approximately 95 tonnes to lessen environmental impact during the construction process and lowering expenditure on both concrete and reinforcement.
