CCL’s first post-tensioned ‘living roof’
CCL designed, supplied and installed the post-tensioned (PT) concrete roof slab on Rivergate Primary School, Barking, UK, the first CCL Slab to support an eco-friendly ‘living roof’.
The 2400m2 PT slab, which incorporates a Pudlo integral waterproofing system, had many complex penetrations which necessitated the design and planning of special joints and pours.
CCL’s PT system reduced the amount of concrete and reinforcement used within the slab, thereby lowering CO2 emissions and cutting the cost of materials, while speeding up the construction process.
The school is set to open in September 2012.
