Dolmsundbrua
CCL has completed its section of works on the Dolmsundbrua project on the west coast of Norway.
Connecting the remote island of Dolmøya to the larger Hitra island – which itself accesses the mainland via bridge – this cantilever structure crosses the Dolmsundet marine channel at a height of 32 metres above water level.
Brought in by the project’s main contractor, NCC Construction Norway AB, CCL supplied the post-tensioning materials and carried out the installation of CCL XM-50 and XM-60 tendons of lengths of 12-192 metres. In total, CCL installed 305 tonnes of 15.7mm strand during works.
Featuring two 50mph motor lanes, and a further pedestrian pathway, the 12-metre-wide structure significantly reduces travel time between Dolmøya and Hitra by removing the necessity of a ferry crossing.
