Post-tensioning on the Qatar Facility of Islamic Studies


CCL has successfully completed the post-tensioning (PT) works on the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies project with main contractor CCC/TCC JV.

The Faculty is located in the southern zone of the Education City development on the outskirts of Doha. The academic building comprises two basement levels and five additional floors, with a total built up area of 41,770m2. It will accommodate teaching and faculty space, a research centre, the Education City campus mosque and an underground car park.

CCL’s role included the provision of the post-tensioning shop drawings for the project and the supply of materials including the CCL XM Multistrand Post-tensioning System which was used in the PT beams. The Company supervised the PT installation and provided specialist equipment from its extensive fleet located in Qatar. In addition to the post-tensioning package, CCL in full cooperation with Mageba and Eversondai, also supplied the bearings and dampers on this prestigious project.

The scheme is due for completion in 2013.
